Nothing beats the excitement of trawling a flea market for unique finds. Our favourite in the South West is The Giant Shepton Flea Market, at the Bath and West Showground near Shepton Mallet.

This longstanding market has been running for over 20 years and is home to over 250 indoor and outdoor stalls. There’s wide variety of treasures to explore, from fabric to antique furniture and vintage art. It’s certainly hard to leave empty handed. It’s a good idea to bring a large bag, but if you hope to pick up a lot of beautiful pieces, a wheeled shopping trolley can be helpful.

Open to the public from 9:30am – 4pm and entry is £6 per person, but children are free. Many sellers will also only accept cash. It’s worth arriving well before 9.30am to join the queue early and have first pick of the stalls.
