If you’re envisaging yourself spending your holiday in Provence sipping on rosé in a quaint village, look no further than Lourmarin. With charming winding streets, sweetly scented jasmine-covered facades and restaurants spilling onto the pavement, it’s a beautiful place to slow down. While some popular destinations in Provence have become particularly touristy, Lourmarin succeeds in retaining its local essence and boasts an artsy vibe, with galleries and studios, and interiors boutiques lining the streets.
In the heart of the village you’ll find Le Moulin, a stylish outpost of the Beaumier hotel group. The interiors are simply, but beautifully, curated. The rooms and common spaces feature rustic textures, natural stone, white-washed walls and terracotta and ochre accents. Beaumier champions the artisans which bring their hotels together, from architects to furniture makers, meaning the branding and interiors of Le Moulin combine for a well-thought-out, design-led boutique hotel experience.
The restaurant, Bacheto, is one of the best in Lourmarin, and offers Provençal dishes with a modern twist. We also loved the hotel’s Café-Épicerie, selling creative postcards, local wine and snacks.
Lourmarin is a great base to explore the Luberon region of Provence, but this inviting hotel and its beautiful setting makes it difficult to consider leaving.
