Tillingham

Tillingham is a forward-thinking winery, 70-acre farm, restaurant and boutique escape in the scenic East Sussex countryside. A former hop barn has been renovated to offer eleven double bedrooms, in addition to two luxury bell tents for those wanting to get even closer to nature. The interiors are curated by local Rye-based studio McCully & Crane, so you can guarantee a stylish stay.

The Michelin Green Star restaurant has an rustic-industrial aesthetic with expansive windows overlooking the vineyard. The sharing dishes and larger plates are full of local flavours and seasonal flair. In fact, we’re still thinking about the heavenly miso butter scallops. For a more informal bite to eat, Tillingham also serves pizzas in one of their barns.

When visiting a vineyard, you’d be remiss not to try a tipple or two. Guests can order a wine flight, or book onto a wine tour, which includes tastings. You’ll find it hard to resist picking up a few bottles to take to your next dinner party – the labels are simply so chic.

Tillingham is a must-visit if you’re in the Rye area and take your field-to-fork eating seriously.
