Hotel das Amoreiras is a charming boutique hotel located in a quiet square far from Lisbon’s tourist trail.

The hotel has just 19 rooms, making it feel intimate and cosy. The interiors are thoughtful and curated, yet sumptuous, using rich ochres, greens and brass skirting boards. Scalloped rattan sideboards and woven bar stools steal your eye as your explore the downstairs. You’ll also be drawn to the small courtyard for warmer days. A rich woody scent wafts through the lobby and common areas. This is Hotel das Amoreiras’ bespoke scent, and being so memorable, we couldn’t resist purchasing it in candle form from the friendly reception team.

Hotel das Amoreiras is our go-to recommendation for anyone visiting Lisbon and seeking a slower, more local experience. It’s perfect if you enjoy exploring on foot, but Uber is also very affordable in the city.

When in Lisbon, don’t miss a visit to A Vida Portuguesa, which receives a gold star for retail theatre, displaying beautiful homewares and Portuguese artisan products with flair. For eating out, Praça das Flores is around 15 minutes on foot. This pretty square has a local feel and is lined by great bars and restaurants. Pica-Pau restaurant is another solid choice for dinner or lunch.
